Introduction
The Yoga for Health and Education Trust (YHET) is introducing the first ever UK yoga degree courses comprising a Foundation Degree in Yoga Teaching with the option of going on to a BA Honours in Yoga Studies (both courses subject to validation).
These part time courses have been developed by YHET in conjunction with the University of Bedfordshire. The Foundation Degree in Yoga Teaching takes two and a half years and the BA Honours in Yoga Studies, which takes 12 months, starts at the end of the Foundation Degree.
If you are not sure whether you are ready for the Foundation Degree Course, you may wish to consider the Fundamentals of Yoga Course first.
The degree courses are mainly self-study, self practise and own research. There are lectures, tutorials, discussion, debate, self observed practice with written observations, case studies, seminars, demonstrations, summer schools, class presentations, hands on, blackboard and handouts.
Both degree courses take the same general format with a session on the last Saturday of each month with the module tutor. In addition, there is a follow up session on the second Saturday of the following month with the course co-ordinator, covering issues arising from the previous session, providing an opportunity for individual teaching practice, help with essay writing and research and any other questions that may arise.
The Saturday sessions take place at the Luton Campus of the University of Bedfordshire. The summer school classes take place at the Bedford Campus of the University of Bedfordshire.
